The Story Behind the Greens

We’ve moved a lot of trees, built a lot of greenhouses, and figured a few things out along the way. Here’s the timeline.

1993

Our Founders Get Their Start

Jeff Brown’s first greens credit lands with Jurassic Park in 1993. He quickly rises through the ranks to lead the Greens Department at Universal Studios in L.A., overseeing natural set builds for major productions. Over the next two decades, he works behind the scenes on blockbusters like Star Trek, The Mummy, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Iron Man 2, shaping the look and feel of some of the most iconic landscapes in film. Meanwhile our other founder, Carlos Martínez is building his foundation in the greenhouse and nursery world—developing plant production systems and managing hundreds of ornamental varieties across Southern California.

Cinema Greens Takes Root in Georgia

With Georgia’s film industry gaining serious momentum, Jeff and Carlos make the call to head south. They find 14 acres in Hampton and get to work. Drawing on decades of greens experience, they clear the land, build a greenhouse and nursery, set up a working farmhouse, and launch one of the first dedicated greens suppliers in the state. Cinema Greens is officially born.

2017

Our Second Location Opens

Cinema Greens expands with a dedicated warehouse and walk-in plant shop in East Point. Designed with set decorators in mind, the new space makes it easier for productions to access live and artificial greens on short notice. With neighbors like Central Atlanta Props & Sets [CAPS] and Technical Props nearby, the location quickly becomes part of a growing ecosystem of trusted vendors serving Georgia’s film and TV industry.

A New Home at Trilith Studios

Cinema Greens relocates to Trilith Studios to be closer to major productions. The move includes building out a working greenhouse and walk-in plant shop on-site, giving set decorators easy access to both live and artificial greens. With everything under one roof, Trilith becomes the central hub for day-to-day operations—and the heart of the business moving forward.

Something New is Growing

After years behind studio gates at Trilith, Cinema Greens is preparing to welcome the public once again with a new outdoor garden space at Diggers Antiques in Fayetteville. This open-air setup will feature live plants, artificial greens, and decor with character—rooted in the same creative spirit we bring to every set. We’ll see you there soon! Follow along on Instagram and Facebook @cinemagreens for updates on the build and opening day details.
